High temperature epoxy paste resistant to 250°C for corrosion protection and damage repair of systems subjected to extreme heat

SKU: PHT Categories: , , Tag:

Description

Titanium Supergrade HT is an alloy-reinforced epoxy paste with high temperature resistance used to repair and protect pipelines and stress-bearing equipment subject to extreme heat.

It is resistant to 250°C and is effective on all metals and most plastics. Titanium Supergrade HT is reinforced with corrosion-resistant metal platelets which make the paste easy to mix and apply, giving a smoother finish than other epoxy repair pastes.

As part of the Sylmasta Pipe Repair System, Titanium Supergrade HT restores the surface profile of pipelines, improves integrity and increases resistance against corrosion by providing an additional impermeable membrane in the event of a future breach of the original pipe due to internal corrosion.

It can also be used to improve the effectiveness of SylWrap Composite Repair Wraps. When used in conjunction with SylWrap HD, SylWrap CR or SylWrap FR, Titanium Supergrade HT maximises the surface contact area with the wrap, increasing adhesion.

Aside from pipe repair, Titanium Supergrade HT is used for the maintenance and repair of pumps, valves, tanks, metals castings, damaged keyways, and automotive bodywork. Because of its high compressive strength, Titanium Supergrade HT is ideal for repairing worn shafts

With a work time of three hours, Titanium Supergrade HT can be mixed in large quantities and allows for greater coverage over significant sections of damage. Sylmasta recommend Titanium Supergrade HT to clients operating in hot climates because its work time means there is little chance of a premature cure.

How to make a high temperature repair using Titanium Supergrade HT Epoxy Paste

Some surface preparation is required before Titanium Supergrade HT can be applied. Surfaces should be free of paint, rust and grime before being roughened via either grit blasting or grinding with a coarse wheel or abrasive disk pad. Full instructions on the preparation process are available on the Technical Data Sheet and are provided with the product.

Titanium HT Supergrade should be applied as soon as the preparation procedure is complete. The epoxy paste is spread over the surface requiring repair using a putty knife or other hand tool.

Pressing the paste firmly into the surface ensures maximum contact and avoids trapping air. It will fill in damage and pitting caused by corrosion and provide a chemically resistant layer of protection.

When making a pipe repair, Titanium HT Supergrade should be overwrapped immediately with a SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandage or other composite wrap for a long-lasting, high-pressure repair.

The epoxy paste is thixotropic, meaning it will not sag, and it is virtually odourless, with no unpleasant smell compared to other products.

Repair Calculator

The below calculator can be used to determine the quantity of Titanium Supergrade HT needed to coat a damaged section of pipework. Enter the diameter of the pipe in millimetres, the length of the repair area and the coating thickness of Titanium HT Supergrade to be applied.

Once you have entered your data, press calculate and the number of kilograms of epoxy paste required will be shown.

Case Studies

A ceramic factory rebuild a heavily worn shaft on a mill wheel after being told replacing the damaged part was not possible and so the only solution was fitting a whole new wheel
