Silicon carbide-filled epoxy paste with high abrasion resistance to repair and protect machinery and parts in abrasive environments

SKU: PCG Categories: , Tag:

Description

Ceramic Supergrade Epoxy Paste is applied to metal, wood and most plastics to provide a low friction, highly abrasion resistant repair.

It is filled with silicon carbide for ultimate surface hardness and an extremely smooth finish. This finish means lower friction as surfaces rub together, increasing wear resistance and extending the lifespan of machinery and parts in abrasive environments.

Ceramic Supergrade is ideal for the repair of heavy damage to silos, chutes, mills, pumps, metal castings and tanks. It is also applied to new equipment to protect parts and surfaces against wear, corrosion and chemical attack.

The 60 minute work time of Ceramic Supergrade allows large quantities of paste to be mixed for greater coverage of significant areas without the threat of premature curing. It is moisture tolerant, easy to mix thanks to its light consistency and sets to a blue colour.

How to make an abrasion resistant repair using Ceramic Supergrade Epoxy Paste

Before applying Ceramic Supergrade Epoxy Paste, surfaces should be free of paint, rust and grime before being roughened up through either grit blasting or grinding with a coarse wheel or abrasive disk pad. Full instructions detailing the preparation process can be found on the Technical Data Sheet and are provided with the product.

Ceramic Supergrade should be applied as soon as the preparation procedure is completed. Part A and Part B are mixed together to the instructed ratio. The epoxy paste is then spread over the area requiring repair using a putty knife. Ceramic Supergrade should be pushed in firmly to ensure maximum contact and to avoid trapping air between the paste and the surface.

A full cure is achieved in 24 hours. Ceramic Supergrade is thixotropic, meaning it will not sag. It is virtually odourless, with no unpleasant smell compared to other epoxy pastes.

Once cured, repairs made with Ceramic Supergrade Epoxy Paste can be top coated for further reinforcement with Ceramic Brushable Blue Epoxy Coating.
