Description
The SylWrap Cast Iron Pipe Repair Kit is a specialist kit for use on cracked and leaking cast iron pipework where there is no pressure.
It follows the same format as a SylWrap Standard Pipe Repair Kit, but contains additional CrackSeal Sealant for making faster, easier repairs to longitudinal cracks and splits in cast iron.
No training is required to use the Kit. Cracks and holes can be permanently sealed in under 30 minutes at a fraction of the cost of replacement.
Repairs can be made to pipes between 32mm and 150mm, matching standard cast iron diameters. The Kit is suitable for domestic and industrial use in both exterior and interior settings, is pressure resistant to 30 bar and temperature resistant to 200ºC.
How to repair leaking cast iron pipework with the SylWrap Cast Iron Pipe Repair Kit
The Cast Iron Pipe Repair Kit contains Superfast Steel Epoxy Putty, CrackSeal Sealant and a SylWrap HD Pipe Repair Bandage.
Superfast Steel is used to seal small holes and areas of damage. The required amount of putty is cut from the stick and mixed by hand until it turns a uniform colour.
It is then pushed into the crack or hole in the pipe, where it will harden in around five minutes to seal the leak.
CrackSeal Sealant is used for large splits and longitudinal cracks. It is extruded from its cartridge using a standard sealant gun (not supplied with the Kit) directly into the crack until it is totally filled. CrackSeal sets almost instantly, even on wet surfaces.
SylWrap HD is a composite fibreglass wrap with a water-activated resin. It is applied over the leak area, where it will quickly set to provide a rock-hard, impact resistant, protective shell reinforcing the repair.
Both Superfast Steel and SylWrap HD have WRAS Approval, meaning they are certified as safe to repair pipework carrying drinking water.
